Assemblymember David Chiu (D – San Francisco) today issued the following statement on Governor Jerry Brown’s budget proposal:
“Today's proposal by the Governor creates a strong foundation for our great state. As a member of the Budget Committee, I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues and the Governor to move the budget process forward. I'm pleased that California's growing economy means we are increasing our investment in education and health care to help our residents succeed. I also applaud the Governor's proposal to double our investment of cap-and-trade dollars for public transit. I do believe there's work to do in the months ahead to identify more solutions to the housing affordable crisis and the income inequality challenge in San Francisco and other areas of California.”
(SACRAMENTO) – Following last month’s election, David Chiu (D-San Francisco) was sworn in today as a member of the California State Assembly to represent the 17th Assembly District, which encompasses the eastern half of San Francisco. The oath of office was administered to Chiu and his colleagues in the Assembly Chamber of the State Capitol by Associate Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court.
“I am incredibly humbled to be elected to serve in the state Assembly and look forward to making sure that Sacramento delivers for San Francisco on the challenges of our time, from housing affordability and schools to transportation and the environment,” Chiu said. “After six years working to make San Francisco City Hall more effective by bringing all sides together to get things done, I look forward to the opportunity to doing that in our state Capitol for San Francisco and all of California.”
