The committee has been created to address the raging fentanyl and opioid crisis that has claimed the lives of over 6,800 Californians last year.

“As a proud co-author of SB 1161, I commend the leadership of Senator Min and the Stop AAPI Hate Coalition for the passing of SB 1161, a priority bill for the API community that provides for public transit ridership safety that will work to address harassment on public transportation.
“SB 57, the overdose prevention sites legislation authored by Senator Scott Wiener and co- authored by me, was just vetoed by Governor Newsom.

virus can infect anyone, it is particularly impacting gay and bisexual men. We have very little
time to contain this outbreak and prevent it from getting out of control and potentially becoming

San Francisco – Today in Chinatown, Assemblymember Matt Haney and representatives from California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s Office stood with Asian Pacific Islander (API), Black, and LGBTQ leaders to draw attention to the dramatic increase in hate crimes statewide, including the 177.5% increase in reported anti-Asian hate crimes, and to outline statewide efforts to fight these crimes.
