SACRAMENTO — Inmates who receive career training in automotive repair, cosmetology, construction and other fields would find it easier to find jobs in those professions once they leave lockup, under a bill headed to Gov. Jerry Brown.
AB2138 by Assemblyman David Chiu, D-San Francisco, would prohibit state licensing boards from barring people with minor convictions from professions licensed by the state. Those with serious felonies could still be kept from such jobs.
